Booking a job with Movers Chesapeake, or even just asking for a number, puts you under the terms on this page. They apply to this website and to the moving, packing, and storage work our crew performs as a Virginia-registered, insured household-goods carrier working out of Chesapeake.
How a quote becomes a booking
Paige builds your written figure from what you tell her: both addresses, a target date, a rough inventory, stairs or tight access, and whether a Deep Creek flood-zone lot or a tunnel-timed crossing factors in. A phone conversation alone doesn’t put a truck on hold for you; your date is only secured once our office confirms it in writing. Once that figure is set, it holds as long as the job matches your description, no toll, mileage, or fuel surcharge gets tacked on anywhere in the Chesapeake metro.
What we ask you to have ready
- An honest room count, plus a heads-up on anything unusually heavy or oversized
- Flood-zone conditions, stairs, or fragile items flagged before the crew arrives
- Any HOA or building-management sign-off that falls outside what our office already handles
- Clear paths through doorways and walkways on both ends so the crew can work efficiently
Where we operate, and who’s on the truck
Coverage runs across Chesapeake and Hampton Roads, Great Bridge, South Norfolk, Deep Creek, Western Branch, Greenbrier, Hickory, and Indian River, plus long-distance runs on I-64, I-95, and I-85. Nobody on that truck is a day-of hire; every mover carrying your boxes is on our own payroll, trained by us before they’re ever sent to a job.
If the job on-site doesn’t match what was described
Sometimes a home turns out different once the crew is standing in it, more furniture than described, tighter access, occasionally even a different address altogether. In that situation, the crew stops and gets your sign-off on a revised figure before moving another box. Outside of that scenario, the number on your quote is final, no exceptions.
Valuation coverage and filing a claim
Federal moving rules set the floor, and the valuation option you choose determines what sits above it. Every shipment leaves with released-value protection already attached, no added cost, sixty cents per pound per item as the baseline. Full-value protection, if you choose it, runs roughly one to three percent of your declared shipment value, backed by up to $1 million in cargo coverage. For an interstate move, the window to file a damage claim runs about nine months from delivery, and it needs to be submitted in writing, not called in.
Moving your date, or stepping away from it
Slots go to whoever’s written confirmation lands in our inbox first, a phone call alone doesn’t stake a claim on the calendar, no matter how early it comes in. Plans change; when yours do, call or email right away. Waiting costs the next family a shot at that same date, since our schedule fills from a short waitlist. Exact deposit figures and cancellation windows vary job to job, so look to the paperwork you sign at booking for those specifics, not to this overview.
